poemstore

I headed to San Francisco this weekend to go to the Treasure Island Music Festival (lots more on that later).  One of the interesting things I found there was a poemstore.  It consisted of a guy (Zach, of zachhouston.com) and a gal (Maya, website unknown) who both had typewriters.  For the mere cost of any donation, they would write a poem for you about a topic of your choosing.  Amy got 2 poems about "many a things, outdoors, music in the out of doors, beer" and mine was about "transient living within parks".  So very interesting and one of my favorite things I did yesterday.  The guy (Zach) was super nice.  I guess he spent his summer in Kansas City at the Nelson Atkins Art Museum.  Oh the connections of life.  Not knowing this until just now, I talked to him about the closing of California state parks and how crazy the whole deal seems.  Anyhow, that's a small snippet of my wonderful day yesterday.  Now, my poem, by Zach Houston:

now the parks are closed
we can roam freely
no range of
spectrum
from nature
to close
thats why
they call
it that going
next to where
you were
a moment ago
closed parks
open road
