I made it to G-town

I'm here...I made it...I'm moved in. It's quite the transition to get used to community bathrooms again...however...it's especially creepy because no one is here yet and I'm the only person on the dorm floor that usually houses 60 people. If anyone knows how I get freaked out about this...lets just say...I've been having some trouble sleeping...because I think I hear footsteps...but there shouldn't be anyone else on the floor...waaa! I hate being scared!

Other than that things are going well. As far as being the least educated person on staff...I was correct in that assumption. Everyone is in some kind of graduate school....most (almost all) are in med school. I guess this was to be expected but I don't really know why they hired me. Anyway...everyone is pretty fantastic and the program sounds really interesting...so yay!

On my first day back in DC...Julie and Gordon helped me move in which was super nice! (Considering it was SO hot, Georgetown is hard to get to, and I was misinformed about how to get there) But despite the difficulties had a great day by randomly watching a dog show in the park, eating some good Thai food and going to the waterfront festival in Alexandria in which we got to see Josh Kelly play for $10...sweet! I'm so glad to have such good friends here...it's going to be a fun summer...

Glad to hear you're back on the East Coast! Sorry I missed your birthday. The big 25 isn't so bad, seeing as I'm getting pretty close to 26. Yikes! I owe you a phone call. Let me know a good time and the best number now that you're a DC girl.

What kind of camp are you staffing, Katie?

Aneesh just got back from a diabetes camp in northern Indiana and absolutely loved it.

It's a youth conference for high achieving high school students who are interested in careers in medicine...we go to local med schools and hospitals...also get to see some of the major public health organizations that are based here, as well as some pretty interesting/accomplished speakers from the world of medicine. As far as my job goes...we're more the on campus education piece which deals with some real life simulations of if you were actually a resident/physician. So it seems like it will be a good time...I'm liking the program...but we're just in training right now...maybe I'll change my mind after we have a session with 400 scholars...fun times!

MJ - any time this week after 6...and I'm in your time zone now! Yay!
