So it's now officially over. The youth conference has ended as we sent home the last of our scholars yesterday. Let me tell you...this last week...quite a trip. I had a good group of young scholars but unfortunately the conference was hit with some kind of highly contagious virus in which 74 students commenced to throw up in various places over and over and over again. So for the count, here are the places in which our conference left a little something behind in the worst way: my classroom - check, Harper's Ferry (it's a place not a boat) - check...multiple times, The Hilltop house - check, the capital - it wasn't pretty but check, the bus - check, the front lawn of the 4-H - check, all up and down Ketner Hall (in which I was sharing with 5 other FAs) - check, check, check, check, check, the cafeteria - yum...check, in the airport, outside of the airport, at the Science Center, etc... I can't go on, only know that it was serious...I was disgusted and it's not often that half digested lunch bothers me. However, we survived...it's over...thank goodness.
We had a good staff party last night toasting most times to our survival in Vomit City. I can honestly say that I had a great time and met some awesome people. It's hard for me to fathom that last night I was out in DC with 18 people that I had spent 2 months with and tonight I'm back in Missouri by myself. I love the change, I was ready for it...but it's definitely bittersweet. Back to real life I guess....
