Field Trip

The cool thing about my job is sometimes I get to take field trips (and field trips that are more than just to the campground bathrooms, which the big-boss-man is very concerned about, which means we go there quite often). This time though, it was to Coulterville, a tiny town that John Muir passed through on his way to Yosemite. That's their claim to fame. Unfortunately, this town of 3,000 people does not see much traffic, so their tourist audience is lacking. It makes me a little sad. I have decided to go back every once in awhile to support the local establishments (they have a pretty cool historic bar!). The people there are very welcoming and friendly, and have a passion for their heritage, and connection to Yosemite. It's good to see that, and I hope that their community does well. The day started with scones and coffee at my friend's house (there was a little bit of a morning dance party too, it's just the way of Mr. Westerlund!), proceeded to get soaked and freezing in a field, and then ending with a warm up in the aforementioned town. All while learning a lot about California history. I get paid to do this. How lucky am I?!
