Lazy Sunday

I had a fairly great weekend. I didn't do a whole lot, but what I did do...was a good time:

Sal' s Taco Truck: every Thursday (payday!) there is a truck that parks in the town where most of the employees live. The line to get some mediocre Mexican food is long. So very long that to pass the time you drink, and socialize with people that you don't get to see on a regular basis (or maybe you do and you get to actually talk to them longer than 2 minutes!). After finally getting your food, if you have been drinking in the meantime, you are fairly drunk, and the burrito that you just ordered will taste like the best burrito you have ever had in your life. It's true, I've experienced it. After lamenting with your friends about how every single one of your relationships has failed, and there are no more tall, single boys left in the world, your friends drive you home.

Well, maybe that last part doesn't happen to everyone. But it's what my night consisted of! After returning to the valley, we proceeded to take a moonlit walk and lay out on the boardwalk. I like night-time here...you're usually the only one around...there are no cars, no bikes, no gapers. It's pretty fantastic.

Friday was a cleaning/laundry day and I watched Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist. Eh...not super-impressed. I also watched the traffic gridlock from my back porch! Have a great holiday weekend...I'm sorry that you have no idea what you've gotten yourself into, visitors!

I went up to Tuloumne on Saturday. This is considered our high country and right about now the weather is absolutely perfect there! I went to Cathedral Lakes and got eaten alive by mosquitoes. It was a really gorgeous hike and good to get some mileage under my belt. Then it was time for fish tacos and mango margaritas at the Mobil. The Mobil is a gas station but so, so much more. If you come to visit, I'll take you there!

And today. I decided that Sunday is my cooking day since I don't do a lot of cooking the rest of the week. Even though I'm a disaster in the kitchen, I like to try to make delicious things. Some are a hit (oatmeal raisin cookies) and some are a miss (a concoction of pasta, artichoke hearts, chicken, olive oil and peas? The verdict is still out).

So happy July 4th from the "first" national park! We survived the weekend!
