...and in reality...it's the first time that I can say that and it's really true. Yes, my alma mater, University of Missouri-Columbia (otherwise known as Mizzou) beat KU in the "biggest game of the century" to capture the number 1 spot in the rankings. Number 1....NUMBER 1! Can I just say...it's good to be a Tiger fan these days. Back when I was in college...it wasn't this easy. We pretty much sucked...it was at the start of Gary Pinkel's career at MU. It was a hard sell for new football recruits...we just weren't that great of a program. This makes me so excited because when you have a good team, you have good funding...and this is good for the University.
Also, crushing Kansas is always a good thing. This game gives us bragging rights for at least a good 25 years. I don't know what happens to you when you attend MU but somehow...the hate for Kansas seeps into your heart. I don't hate things...but I DO hate Kansas. I remember several years ago I met someone and they told me how they went to K-State. I replied...without mere thought, "At least you don't go to KU" and was shocked that it came out of my mouth. I don't know how to explain it if you aren't a part of it. Because of the hate (it goes both ways) when I went to the game on Saturday...I feared a bit for my personal safety. I remember being the sacrificial peace offering of being sent to a KU game the year after Mizzou fans pelted the KU band with broken beer bottles and spit. Let's say it wasn't the most welcoming crowd. But all was well...everyone was good...for the most part...well...at least what I saw.
So....all in all....take that, Kansas...too bad so sad for you, Texas...we're number !!

San Antonio is only 7 hours from here, so I got tickets to the Big 12 Championship game for Sat. My license plate my say 'Oklahoma' but I will decked out from head to toe in my Mizzou gear. I'm debating about whether or not to bring the Tiger Ears. I guess I'm still self-concious about appearing in public looking silly. :) What do you think?
Sarah...you must bring them...tiger ears are never silly at a MU game! I wish, WISH I could go with you...I'll be working and won't even get to watch the game. This means you have to cheer extra loud for me!
Sarah should DEFINITELY wear the Tiger ears. Did you see those people with full-on Tiger faces on TV?
I love that I can see Mizzou on TV now that we're big time. Too bad no one else around here can appreciate how exciting this is! Katie, you're right about KU hatred. You can't understand unless you're on the inside.
