Before I am officially hired at the hospital I have to
-pass a drug screen (I have to pee in a cup...whoo-hoo!)
-make sure that I still have immunity to measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and hepatitis (they have to take several vials of blood)
-make sure that I haven't been exposed to TB (another needle stick for me)
-have a flu shot (I thought that I would get out of it this year)
In the two years that I have been out of nursing I haven't had a single shot. And even though I am a nurse and have no problem inserting IV's or giving my patients shots...I am a little afraid of needles myself. I know...it's ridiculous...but I'm not the only medical professional out there that is like this!
I kind of miss the days where to be hired, your employer just takes your word for it (like Glacier). But then again if you are desperate for employees, you don't really want to rule them out for any reason.
In other news: can't get enough of watching Elf (love, LOVE Will Ferrell) The Family Stone (I cry every time I see it...it's so good!) and While You Were Sleeping (an oldie but a goodie). I'm really into the Christmas spirit these days...even though it is 60 degrees outside! Oh, and watch The Office tonight...it's an hour long show that should be hilarious! AND if I get 10 people to watch The Office who were not watching it previously, I win a date with John Krasinski! Yes!
