I went "surfing" for the first time while I was in San Diego. I call it "surfing" because it actually wasn't surfing. It was more like hanging on for dear life to a foam board while you realize how very powerful the ocean really is. I never made it to a standing position but several times got to my knees...which I guess is a good start. Hey...it's harder than it looks! But like Amber said, and I agree, "I've never had so much fun failing at something." After being pounded by the ocean more than several times...I decided to get some "hey let's just sit on the beach" time. It was nice.
The next day...we went to the San Diego Zoo. Very nice...good exhibits...and it was one of the panda's birthdays so she got an ice cake (so cute!) They also told a story about the baby panda who had been sleeping in the tree because she exhausted herself by playing with a bucket full of ice cubes the day before. If only we all could be as easily entertained!
Otherwise my time was spent helping Amber pack as she is moving back to KC. Wedding and moving in the same weekend is never a good idea but that's the way it was...and it turned out just fine. The wedding was held in a park overlooking the ocean...so beautiful...I can't wait to see the pictures! AND I got to hang out with the Mizzou girls which always, ALWAYS is a good time. A great trip...and now I can say that I actually have other memories of California other than the Pirates of the Caribbean ride (in which I was traumatized...it's scary when you're 3!) and the Mickey Mouse swimming pool.

Who knew the ice cream picture would turn out to be so cute? Woo hoo for more good times in about a month!
I'm SO jealous you got to see the baby panda in SD!! And on it's birthday! I think I take Tai Shan for granted here in DC... when I went to his b-day party, I just went for the free cupcakes and juice, thinking, "I live a few blocks from the pandas... I can see them anytime." Thanks for the postcard, Katie! And I'm glad you had a great time in San Diego.
