yay! a job

So I got a job as a substitute school nurse. It's gone pretty well so far...not my favorite but it's tolerable. I feel like the kids just want drugs from me...you know...the hard stuff...tylenol 650 mg...yes...I would call myself a dealer.

I had an orientation before starting where I went to some of the different schools just to get the hang of all the policy and procedure and the nurse at the middle school told me a particularly disturbing story. One teacher had their students build rockets in science class to teach them the basics of well...rocket science I would guess. Then, they went outside to see how high they would shoot up into the air with 80 pounds of pressure behind them. One middle schooler's rocket was not working so he leaned over to get a closer look and the rocket took off right into his nose and blew it "not completely off but close." But it only took the paramedics 3 minutes to get there...which is amazing. As for the kid? "You can barely tell it happened, they stitched him up well." I would hate to be the nurse to make that inital phone call to his parents.

Who said school nursing wasn't exciting?
