I spent part of the day yesterday at a nature park I found that's not too far away from where I live...I'm hoping to volunteer with them very soon. As I was walking one of the trails, a boy, approximately 7 years old said, "Stop...look!" As excited as he was I wasn't sure what I was in for: a beaver, a rare bird? Even seeing a deer around here would be thrilling (since this park is in the middle of a city)!
It was a chipmunk.
Needless to say, I was not impressed, but the way that the boy was so excited about seeing it, and so proud to point it out to others...it made me smile.
I also almost stepped on a snake, and the biggest slug I've ever seen in my life. It was a big day at the nature park.
