I've been spending way too much time online lately...but I'm iced in! I must be entertained somehow...so I don't feel guilty. Through my facebook stalking (yes, I probably AM stalking you) I have found that I am totally over a certain person that was once an important part of my life. The great thing: I know now that we were totally wrong for each other and it never would have worked out. It's just kind-of a relief...knowing that it turned out like it was supposed to. So thanks, facebook!
Christmas. Oh Christmas. I love you and all that you mean but I hate the capitalism and marketing that clings to your sides. I have not gone shopping yet, I don't know what to get anyone, I dislike wrapping presents so much that I'm thinking of slamming my hand in a car door to get out of it this year, and helping my mom put decorations up frustrates me beyond belief for some reason. I am not a Christmas scrooge...I just wish it was more like Thanksgiving. Family time and good food...that's all I really need.
If you were to visit KC for the first time ever...what would you want to see? My friend, Freeman is coming to Kansas City for a conference and has never been to the midwest (he has never been on a airplane either...that's a story for a different time) and I have no idea where to take him. He has already informed me that ice skating is out (even though he is staying right next door at the Westin) so I am at a loss. If you have any suggestions...let me know. I'm terrible at showing this city off!
You want a soundtrack to change your life? Listen to Once. I have not seen the movie but I slowly become obsessed with the soundtrack over Thanksgiving break. The first couple of times I heard it, I was indifferent. But after listening to it 3 times (that's the magic number) I was in love. You'll like it if you like acoustic-y, lyrically powerful music. I also like that the guy that sings is very into it...that's his soul...right there in the song. It's pretty amazing.
On the agenda: baking cookies (Christmas ones), shopping, getting that big, ice covered branch off my car so I can actually go somewhere tomorrow, filling out another job application

Show your friend the Plaza, especially at night with all the lights on. I love it there! Maybe do a jazz club or something and of course there's plenty of good eats. :) I just love Kansas City! Hee hee
bring your friend up to that monument on the hill. :) who doesn't like a great view of any city? gelato near the plaza - unless he doesn't like gelato in the cold weather (but are there people who don't like gelato??). as for once. SEE THE MOVIE. it's coming out this week on DVD and i promise you, you'll want to buy it once you see it. I'm taking a break from writing just to go buy it. I can listen to the soundtrack all freakin' day!
