Roadtrip!

Being as I am not busy these days (still) I decided on a whim to take off on an extensive roadtrip with my trusty hound (okay...not so much a "hound"...but it sounds better than just "dog") Lily to the wilds of South Dakota and Montana. Poor Lily...she has proved to be a worthy road-tripper as she did not complain once about my singing in the car or whine about the lack of bathroom stops or the length of our trip (13 hours). Once in South Dakota...I had a great time doing the things that you always do when you visit this beautiful place. The aspen have turned a brilliant color of gold so it definitely looks different than it usually does in the summer. There was some good hiking, Mt Rushmore, and buffalo watching. After several days there...I was as close to Montana as I ever would be (and I'm not sure when I'll be out that way again) so I decided to drive on to visit Lincoln in Bozeman. Bozeman...such a great place! I love it's downtown, the people, the mountains...it was nice. It was MSU's Homecoming and so we got to see the parade...in the rain...well...we weren't in the rain. but the people participating in the parade looked a little miserable. I also got to see my favorite Bozeman celebrity in action when I went to the station and got an up close and personal look of how local news programs are made. It's really actually fascinating and I find myself watching the news with a new perspective (yes...sometimes I actually do watch the news...on purpose!) So, short trip...but good times...and I didn't even have to see a scary move! After the longest drive ever (in which my "Check Engine Soon" light has come on...which freaks me out because last time that happened...my car broke down) I've made it back home only to find that fall has found Missouri as well...it's COLD! But I'm glad to be back...now on to the wedding weekend in Columbia...update to come soon...
