free flow of thought

So I'm in the middle of my 5 days off and I don't really know what to do with myself. I wish it would stop raining...it's all okay though...Georgetown is on a hill so we're good to go. I'm still trying to figure out what a Hoya is...a bulldog? But I hear it has something to do with the greek name for rocks? What the hell is wrong with these people. Fourth of July was great with some awesome BBQ and great company...way too hot though. DC in the summer is not all it's cracked up to be. For the first time in my life...I dropped off some stuff at the dry cleaners...the lady that was working there asked when I wanted them done. I said, "tomorrow?" Thinking that that amount of time would be more than enough. She replied, "Oh no...that's not enough time...I can get them done by Saturday at the earliest." I think that's okay but I'm paranoid that I may have incurred an "express charge" which will cost me somewhere in the price range of hundreds of dollars?! I should have asked how much it was going to cost but the lady was very intimidating and I didn't want to seem like I didn't know what I was doing (ha!) Meanwhile....the lady before me picked up 5 suits and paid $80...this makes me nervous...is this normal? It seems expensive...but then again I have no idea...this was not on Katie's List of Things to Learn Before Going to DC. However, if my biggest worry is about dry cleaning...I think that I'm doing pretty well for myself.

Intimidated by the dry cleaning lady? I've decided a new life path for you. You shall be a reporter so you can learn how to aggressively deal with people. Sound good? Awesome.

Hang in there, Katie! This may make me sound cheap, but a great way to avoid those dry cleaning bills is to go buy a Dryel bag that you can use to dry clean in a regular dryer. It works great as long as you don't have any major stains...plus the dryer is much less intimidating. ;)
