the heart of the matter

To celebrate the birthday of my baby sister (who is now 19) I give you a story in illustrating the sometimes ridiculousness of the situations she gets herself into...

So, Suz comes home for Christmas break is not feeling well, and hasn't really felt well for several weeks. To rule out strep, mono, meningitis, West Nile Virus, etc... my mom makes an appointment for her...

Suz: "You made the appointment with Dr Smith? He is so hot! Can I bring my friend with me so she can see how hot he is? I can't wait to go and see him because he is so hot!"

After she sees the doctor she comes home and proceeds to tell us that she has to get a heart echo done because the doctor thought that he heard a murmur. It turns out that she thought the doctor was "so hot", so her heart was beating really fast, therefore making the blood rush through the heart faster than normal, therefore creating more sounds than usual. Now, it could have been something to be concerned about, it could be a serious thing...but it wasn't. She had the echo done and it showed no abnormalities...the murmur was heard because the heart was beating faster than normal ("When I saw him about to listen to my chest I was thinking, oh crap, oh crap, he's going to hear my heart pumping out of my chest, because he's so hot"). I suggested to her the next time she needs to see a doctor to maybe go with his partner who is a little older and not so much hot.

I love you Suz, you make me laugh...Happy Birthday!
